We only send e-mail from Eluminal.com
to our existing customers to notify them of server maintenance, new
features, and billings. When you receive unsolicited e-mail from
Eluminal.com and you are not one of our customers, it is spam.
It is
easy for spammers to create e-mails with some other return address.
This return address really works - we get dozens of pieces of spam each
day that are returned from invalid destination addresses, so this spam
is a problem for us also. The return address has nothing to do
with the real source of the e-mail. These spam messages do not
originate at Eluminal.com or ever pass through our servers.
Because of that, there's not much we can do. Sorry.
Here are some suggestions for coping with spam:
- Use a spam filter or junk mail filter with your e-mail.
Many e-mail servers and desktop e-mail programs have these features
available. If you don't have them enabled, you should.
- Never reply to spam, or send requests to 'remove me from your
mailing list." First, such requests probably end up at the
return address (like Eluminal.com) where nothing much can be done,
and second, if such a message makes it back to the spammer, you've
just confirmed that you are alive and listening. You might get
more spam, not less.
- Learn to use a service such as spamcop.net. You can submit
the full e-mail header to these sites and they will tell you where
the e-mail really originated. Usually you get an option to
report the spam to the original hosting company where something can
be done to halt the spam.
